GOONDALOO-GOONDAFINISHED

t

HELLO PEOPLE! Wow, what a week itz been all "elbows and arseholes" by everyone in the yard in a TOTALLY futile effort to have THE GOONDA in the water for Saturday night. While the work is actually finished (not swedish). The tidal gods have spoken and there is simply not enuf water to launch her. Hundreds of man hours have gone into the effort, with multiple teams working through the weekend in an effort to have her ready for a double charter on Saturday but alas NO JOY! Unfortunately I was not available during the weekend as the V8's were racing in Darwin(see Sunday's blog).Despite the effort on the Goonda, I've still managed to get heaps done on Galley Cat.New drawers have been fitted to the Kitchen, the shower is just about at trial stage, the hydroponics are ready for a full test, then planting. The wiring is well and truly underway with 100m of special cable gone with a blink(Dad's on the scrounge for more),the dinghy has had a full service and an electric outboard has been fitted to the quintrex.
Really not a bad week considering all thatz been happening. On a positive I have heard from Mermaid and all is looking good (positive spin) in the northern hemisphere, itz still a long road but the battle has begun. The starz are shining xtra brite!Just for U!
Ken has taken a well earned break, with " THE MOTHER IN LAW" and headed to Cairns. This week has also seen the acquisition of a STILL,with a guy(from Two Rocks) in the yard giving me a triple reflux still and home brew kit. $70 later I've got all the ingredients and sterilizer to make 10 litres of spirits (bourbon) and tomorrow will see me preparing the first batch for fermentation (wkoa) Brad (active ice) has organised the carbon filtration (wkoa) unit and will b sending a unit from W.A shortly. The social scene has improved with a new guy and his dog(cute) arriving in the yard. He bought a yacht and will be fixing her up for a trip south of here. On the culinary front I've had some fantastic food with last weekendz caesar salad probably the highlight.I've also made a stunning chicken, mushroom and thyme creation that really hit the spot (the creme sauce just needed a hint of white wine) fresh pancakes, schnitzels and even a coffee layer cake, have completed a rather busy week. Today I tried Qld's version of THE SPUD SHED! called Lambert's(disappointing) it provided nothing more than IGA would in Perth.I did get a sliced whole fillet and also a twin pack of plump chickens that'll be turned into various dishes 2nite and tomorrow , I'm thinking chicken satay,Maryland's, Kiev and stock, beef steak with pepper sauce, schnitzel, stir fry cut and perhaps a wellington if I can find some decent chicken livers.I've also been to liquorland and bought a cask of red and white wine for special sauces. The vegie garden is kind of OUT OF CONTROL with silver beet, basil, cherry tomatoes and mint all going into overdrive. This week I've planted bok choy and pak choy to go in my stirfry's and also tried again to grow button squash and zuchinini (I'll keep you posted).
That'll do 4 2nite I'm hungry itz thyme 2 cook!

  1. Greeting, Captain Felix.
One of these days you're going to have enough free thyme to actually get Galley Cat out on the briny!!!, but at least working on other boats is increasing your skill base for the future. This week we've booked our flights to and from Bangkok - internal stuff still being sorted as we look at whether we do a 5 day tour into Laos, or spend the time with Andrew in Udong before going to Chaing Mai. Internal flights, and accommodation (wkoa) are very cheap cf Australia- hotels from $32 night. Good to hear that Mermaid has been in touch - seems like she might need a holiday with fresh sea air and sunshine to help her recovery. Say "Hello" from us. Put the cooktop for the house on layby this week - Rick Hart's had a HUGE sale, and will store it for up to 12 months ( the cooktop - not the sale!!!) - seemed too good an opportunity to pass up, so Dad put his bargaining skills to the test - successfully. Glad Carli has been able to contact Tony - hope he knows he can call on friends at any time. Better get back to the work in hand - this is a break in Report writing !!!
    Keep busy and happy.
    Mum
