MY FRIDAY !

GOONDALOO

G'day All, Welcome to my FRIDAY,Dawn greeted me xtra chilly, with all those around proclaiming that "It's not normally this cold". By 10am it wasn't cold or even cool at 25 degree's I'd describe the winter weather to B more that O.K. The vessel Goondaloo is up for a major overhaul, so it's all hands on deck, just 1 week ago I was diving under this vessel trying to locate a serious leak. After much consultation (WKOA) she was pulled from the water all 60/45/40/30 tonne of her (depends on who u talk too) either way she's a BIG BITCH.After "2 days" of sanding the port side is ready for painting!
Ken will be in first thing tomorrow ,we'll build a tent around the scaffold and prep the left (port) side for painting. The yard emptied just after 4pm, I grabbed the opportunity to do a spot of friday investment. I grabbed my rods and headed around the corner for a spot of fishing. Huge amounts of surface activity told me I was in the right general area.
After travelling around the yacht club and under the disused railway bridge, I anchored the dinghy just out from a small feeder creek that feeds into the river from the middle of the V8 supercar track, lots of livebaits gave their lives for very little result. On the up side I did land a "HAIRTAIL"????(see photo) It's a strange looking "fish" that resembles Dad's leather belt. Lot's of big runs on the rods ,resulted in zero landings but the positive is really good fishing right on my doorstep.
I've received big quantities of materials this week with the YOT being fitted with her Salt water hose system. Also the electrical system is underway with 100m of cable and conduit arriving ,so I can begin to fit the YOT with her electrical systems. Tonight after fishing I've constructed the PERFECT CAESAR SALAD. It's only taken 3 hours! I've roasted garlic with bread slices and bacon. This yielded my lardons and croutons. The dressing involved the roasted garlic being crushed around the bowl to which I added dijon mustard, egg yolk, black pepper and vinegar. This base was slowly enhanched with extra virgin olive oil,to form an emulsion.
Shaved parmasean was mixed with sliced anchovies, boiled egg quarters and fresh cos lettuce. All in all creating a truely superb caesar salad that could only be improved with some lightly grilled chicken or perhaps dare I suggest a garlic roasted crayfish tail.Either way it tasted just fine. This week I've also made a divine Thai fish curry, Pepper steak , Sashimi of giant trevally,Crumbed barramundi with fresh grown greek salad and potato salad. I have also made some flavoured oils and also a peach cushion. So it has been a kind of busy week with lots of bitz and pieces coming together. In the contact department I've heard from Big Ash, Carli, Mum and Dad ,Brother Andrew, Mermaid and Carl. Best wishes to all,and Good luck in your challenge Amanda.
It appears obvious that winter is in with a vengence on the other side of OZ, I'll think of you each time I apply suncreen this week.
Be cool but not cold!
