STORMZ, SWEAT AND MOSQUITO'Z !

DAILY STORM CELLZ

 G'day from Galleycat!,
Itz a period of sweat and tearz aboard with the average day bringing oppressive heat and humidity. Along with this tropical heat comes the daily storm that turnz day in2 nite and dry into wet.
"Oh!, the joy of the WET"
Itz a thyme to get on top of maintenance issues with an unexpected find this week my old friend Mr Woodrot reared his ugly head. The end of the Boom (bottom of sail no 3) had a freshwater leak on one of the support boltz, this resulted in the wood dissolving and requiring my attention.
The troublesum rudders have now been re- engineered to remove the problem coupling completely and make the rudder shaft and bracket a single piece. Finga'z crossed no more rudder breakdowns!
We have managed a fish or two but just around the loading jetty for queenies and GT's.
Other than that itz a very quiet thyme aboard.
We are aiming for a Barra trip this weekend if all goes according to plan!
With absolute glass calm conditions Galleycat haz left Groote this morning  (Thurs) aiming for the Australian mainland again, well a very remote river and wetland area of the country. 45 nautical miles will see the Yot arrive just B4 dark to take up position just inside the Koolatong River mouth. That is unless the tide haz other idea's!
I managed to get about 300meters from the river itself B4 the yot got stuck in the mud.
So until the following afternoon it was twiddle thumbs thyme but eventually the water returned and Galleycat parked just inside the river mouth to await the arrival of Andrew and Chris on Friday evening. Turns out 2B a popular Barra spot as 3 other boats arrived B4 Andrew.
So the competition was on in earnest, with the boat "Toxic" beating everyone hands down with 10+ landings while we only caught a couple of  barra and one was in a crab net! We tried hard though with trolling, livies and casting lures yielding very few hook ups. We also put in a solid effort with the crab potz for a lonely single crab.
Everyone agrees we need more rain to flush the system and set things in motion.
The second evening saw everyone aboard Galleycat for an evening of story's and drinks. Toxic provided barra fillets for the barbie while I supplied the salads and tunes.
Everybody haz now left the river and gone back to town while I've taken up residence on the very top corner of Woodah Island to give Honey some "land" thyme.
There are several fantastic Islandz I passed on my journey here that I'll be visiting on my return trip. The best of these islands must B: Cool Yal You Ma Island "classic name".
Gr8 fishing and beaches but only small oysterz. 2 out of 3 aint bad!(Meatloaf)
