FRIDAY KNIGHT"S ERE AGAIN!

I"VE GOT A KITCHEN, Yes finally after days of sanding and prep the new kitchen/bbq area is now bolted to the deck. It's still got lots of work to go but at least it's on the deck and I can now cook outside. Thursday afternoon saw me cook lunch for the boys in the yard on my new kitchen. Sate' chicken, Italian rissoles, crumbed barramundi, herb and garlic sausages plus coleslaw and potato salad. All this was received with thanks from the boys before they took off for the Easter break. Work is now progessing.
It's all very exciting, except for the days of sanding. The final colour scheme is coming together with Mocha currently leading. Literally hours of work have gone into transforming what was but a few pieces of plywood tacked together into a super smooth galley, that should be my new culinary base during my adventures across the top end. It's really interesting to learn the process that takes ordinary wood and turns it into a modular piece of YOT fitout.

This week will see the kitchen fitout tidied and as I work out final layouts the drawers will be fitted, the plumbing hooked up to the sink and construction on the wok burner/gas ring.
Once the wok burner is made the railing that will support the gas bottle, bbq and wok burner will be constructed. It seems a slow process from this end but each time I look at pictures of the YOT that pop up on the screen saver I'm reminded of  just how much the project is progressing.
The fishing activity has slowed dramatically this week with no major catches and next to no prawns caught (by anyone!) I'll use this Easter break to venture out in the dinghy to the mouth of the Ross river to try my luck on the sandflats for flathead, whiting and hopefully squid.
On the culinary front  besides the first bbq, I've made a lovely chicken curry served with coriander rice, crab and sweetcorn soup, another batch of yoghurt and a superb herb omelete. This can only be enhanced now I've got a sizeable kitchen to cook in.
Enjoy your friday.
