A WEEK OF EXTREME'S!

"FROM THIS"

This week has seen me 13 meters in the air, swinging
from the very top of the mast in the "bosun's chair"
To laying down  (deck level) on the new daybed! With the odd late night rewire job, also under the keel repairing the rear sponsons(Floatation Tanks).
Really a week of ups and downs! Lotz achieved - lots still to do! Huge leaps forward have been made with work also, on the boom/ winch systems / navigation lighting / forestay/ rollerfurler/ and the rear deck. So all in all a massive effort from all involved. This includes the contributions from Perth with funds and materials pouring in at the precise moment they were needed. The final countdown has begun for the initial trial trips (Fingers crossed).

"TO THIS"

The daybed has been the main focus this week with the finished unit being bolted to the deck 4pm on Friday afternoon. The front half of the daybed is removeable (just like the kitchen) to allow for the outboards to be serviced. As with everything on the YOT the whole thing will need to be finished once its proven to be a workable concept, after 2 or 3 trial trips. The first of these is now only a few weeks away, and rapidly approaching. Final preparations are ongoing on the Yamaha outboards and the wiring/battery systems. With everything going to plan I'll be floating around the Whitsunday islands very soon.

"TO THIS"

The very back wall of the daybed will have 8 tackle boxes stored behind a lockable hatch, once I work out how to use the sowing machine, I'll order cushions and material for the mattress / couch.(this of course will be all weather capable) as the whole unit must be able to withstand the tropical sun and the salt water waves crossing the rear deck. Hour after hour goes into making these units so the journey can move forward with every item needing to be incredibly light and have at least 3 purposes.

This week has also seen a big increase in the fish catches with a really big flathead, a large cod , queenfish, bream and more mudcrabs than I can eat. The cod and flathead were used as Friday lunch for everyone in the yard. The flathead simply dusted with flour and lightly fried in lemon infused oil , the cod was meniere style oven baked fillets served with fresh bread /butter and a warm potato salad. No leftovers!
Other meals include chicken and blackbean stirfry, a homemade beef steak and peppersauce pie,and a sensational vegetable night with 7 different vegetables. The wok burner has now been ordered for the outside kitchen so a big increase in asian style dishes will occur over the next few weeks.
In interstate news Brother Andrew has had a truly amazing fishing trip, big Ash has booked to fly in 2 weeks from today, Brad and Miss Dee have sent me just about everything I could ever want including THE KITCHEN SINK,a small rectangular sink will soon be mounted in the fish cleaning bench (forever known as the active ice sink)  which very soon will be christened. The V8's from Barbagello were FANTASTIC with Karl Reindlers' fireball an absolute spectacle,as usual brother Mark was right in the action zone (lucky bastard).
That's this weeks news
Ciao 4 now!
