PELOROUS ESCAPE !!

My ideal cruizing partner!

Spot the 2 foot "croc"

G'day all,
Galleycat has left the relative shelter of Fantome Island and made the crossing into Lucinda / Dungeoness to pick up Helen..
Unfortunately leaving the anchorage was where we simply ran out of water! With the tide dropping from 3.75m to 0.44m I suppose it was inevitable.
Luckily we weren't the only ones marooned with 3 smaller boats all parked on little sand islands.
Arriving on the high tide was easy this morning with a spinnaker run all the way from Fantome Island to Dungeoness Jetty.
I spent yesterday in Juno Bay with Gary (Ranger from Lockhart River) and Alasdair  (Yetti from Scotland)  from the yacht "Golden Opportunity" . Dinner and drinx followed an afternoon of teaching Alasdair the basics of Powerdiving.
We've all agreed to catch up later on my travels Northwards.
The photo of Jake was the last for my budget cheapy camera and it haz now gone to wherever dead camera's go after their thyme is up.
So I'm having to break in a new one on this trip.
As the tide does! The water returned and we finally left Lucinda behind us.

With the sunlight fading and the weather not the best we made haste 4 the shelter of Pelorous Island.
Arriving after dark it waz thyme to cook a feed of Chilli Mudcrab Galleycat style.
Totally Yum (not Tom Yum) So much so that Helen decided on a second helping before breakfast.
Our nite thyme slumber was disturbed once again by the monster tides!
With the tidal flow so strong we were constantly turned side on to the wind which made for a very bumpy couple of hours.
A late sleep in followed...
All civilized people should rise around 10am !

.
We decided on a full cooked breakkie to supply heaps of energy for the day.
I promised Helen I'd bring her out into "my world" in an effort to get her ying back in touch with her yang and so far it seems to of worked.
She is far more relaxed and rested than when she arrived on Friday.
Plus she's taken to squiding and fishing like a true champion.
We now have plenty of fresh clean squid tubes and fillets of spangled emporor for dinner.
Simple lemon butter for the fish and lemon pepper and garlic oil for the squid. No vegies needed.
Today we've upped the anchor and set sail on a voyage to no-where!
In reality we are doing a lap of Pelorous Island under full sail (no motors) that was until the wind died to leave us in a glass off! "typical"
So it was back to our anchorage behind Pelorous for a swim/ snorkel before dark.
The calm conditions meant I was finally able to get a few fotoz of Galleycat with her shiny new coat of paint and stickers.
We set about constructing a memorable dinner!
So we crumbed some fillet steak into snitzels then stuffed a couple of zuchini's with a beef and shiraz sausage, onion, capsicum and bread stuffing plus a heap of b.b.q  roasted capsicum strips to provide that touch of sweetness.
The whole meal was washed down with a huge glass of Baileys on ice under a star filled sky.
Another late sleep in before we raised the spinnacker and set "sail" this thyme for Zoe Bay on Hinchinbrook Island.
Everyone has told me this is a "must see" destination (wkoa) so around 1 pm today we'll round the headland and park the yot near this piece of paradise.
Picture Perfect!
We've got the place to ourselves!
Or so we thought!, as we neared the edge of the rainforest  I heard voices, just inside the undergrowth we came across a group of students on a survival hike around the Hinchinbrook.
After a walk through the forest we came across this mountain stream that wound itz way down to the beach.
Helen took the opportunity for some brief meditation.
We continued along the well travelled path and came out onto a stunning waterfall and pool.
It was here we found the rest of the students already enjoying this piece of paradise.
It was definately thyme to join them.
The cool water was a welcome relief from the humidity of the rain forest.
Heaps of jungle perch swimming in the pool as well as students.

With Helen having to head back to work tomorrow it was thyme to head back towards Lucinda.
While in Lucinda I met a fellow traveller Nathan (kiwi) with the weather turning near perfect we resupplied and set off for the Reef in search of fresh fishes and adventure.
So another Journey begins.....
A Gr8 big hello to my Irish Mermaid 'twas really good to get your email and I'm crossing my fingers for you in your new adventure.
My wait for crew out of Townsville may of solved itself with the news that Big Ash is heading this way in the near future.
He needs a little peace and quiet as his rugrats have been truly bitten by the fishing bug and are pestering him to go fishing at every available moment.
They spent last weekend out in Cockburn Sound catching a heap of skippy, king george and herring.
A wise man once said never work with kidz or animals and having once been aboard with Ash's kids I can understand his desire to flee...
That's about all for this week
