"THE PERFECT DAY"

G'day All,
WOW    What a day.com.au!
I've just stepp'd inside! Itz 11.40pm and the world is a 1derful place.
BUT that could be the bourbon talking!
Today started with all the planning and promise of any other dai,and will end in the early hours of the morrow with 2 fishin rodz in the water,George Thorogood on zee stereo and a hang over I will surely (Don't call me Shirley) regret!
There is however, order 2 this chaos and somewhere a system is at work!     I am still yet too find it !!!
However despite my lack of sensibility the world  continues 2 turn and the work goes on !
This week endz with the Pergola painted, the safety rails almost complete ,3 new drawers for the kitchen bench ,and the yard work slowly returning 2 normal, after "THE STORM"
Half of Townsville is in the back of trucks on the way to the town dump. About 30million $$$ damage has been done to the suburbs and businesses around the yard. No damage here.
On the brite side my new B.B.Q has arrived, itz a "u beaut" b.b.q, that is simply a dual burner butane stove with a hotplate that clipz onto it, turning a basic hotplate into a b.b.q that can B used inside or out!
Even 2day it has bean used in both kitchens successfully.
However because of the damage and flooding south of Townsville, there has been no other deliveries.I'm still waiting for several ebay items 2 arrive including the lighting for the pergola area. With the road cut there is also very little in the way of supplies getting through to the supermarkets. I went to Woolworths yesterday No onions,No potatoes and No bread.Needless to say Brumby's bakery was doing a roaring trade.
As you can see from the photo's the Pergola is now painted white YIPPEE!!!,we've had a week of SOLID rain here that started last Wednesday and
continued right through to this Wednesday. Everything both inside the Yot and outside in the yard was saturated. It took nearly 2 days to dry the inside of the Yot , wash and dry all the bedding and towels. All the ceilings and painted surfaces had to be wiped with vinegar to remove the mould growth that had started, and once the pergola had dryed sufficiently it was sanded "again", then sprayed.
Ken put in a supa human effort to completely respray a 34ft yacht plus my roof and also a repair on another 40ft catamaran as well. Not bad for a guy on the wrong side of 50.I reckon he lost 3 or 4 kg's  in sweat during the job.The difference is "amazing" the roof is shiny and white and nearly ready to go back
on the Yot. We'll do a few touch ups early next week and then it'll be thyme for the crane 2 carefully place it upon then prepared poles for the last time.
The work won't stop there however as the Pergola still needs to be wired with itz lighting plus the solar panels and wind generators will also be fitted.Itz already taken nearly 6 months in the planning and production stage but it'll be worth it when the whole thing is finally finished.
I mentioned the safety rails earlier, the last of the 10 staunchions(uprights) was welded this morning and this will be bolted into place 2day. Then each upright will be removed for polishing of the welded areas as they get surface rust on the bits that have had a grinder anywhere near them, another slow process but itz got 2 be done. Also I've made the first 3 drawers for the kitchen bench these will be glue together this weekend then painted next week. Then I'll be ready to fit the splashback and new benchtop.
It must be thyme 2 take this boat to sea again, this is very high on my priority list now. It seems as though there is always another job to be done, so its about time to take the Yot to one of the island groups nearby for a little R & R. And of course some fishing!
The fishing scene has been very quite hear! with so much fresh water flowing out of the creek itz meant next to no fish and zero crabz. Lots of baitfish have descended on the area so I have no doubt the predators won't B far behind.I'm sure.
Friday's lunch this week was a tradition italian bolognaise served with fried garlic and parmasean bread. With the leftovers becoming Friday dinner at an impromptu session that involved lots of alcohol and a few fresh pear danish pastries as dessert.
It seems an endless task to get this Yot ship shape and ready 2 go,but the finish line is getting closer, with the fitting of the safety railz and roof this week it'll be thyme to trim the Yot and get ready for a well earned break on the water probably in the Palm Islands and hinchenbrook channel.
Well thatz all from this little black duck 4 this week
