DARK CLOUDS R FORMIN!

The clouds of doom R circling! Well, not quite that dramatic. But still an omen none the less! I got as far as puttin a tarp on the roof. "Justin Case" (precautious fellow I once knew.) B 4 warned! Friday nite is in full swing,George is playin ,the burbs r flowin and all's well with the world! KIND OF!!!
I've just finished designing the new skippers console, lounge / fridge area, plus the lighting layout 4 the new roofs' leading edges. Kenny's gunna b pissed on Monday! (More changes) Oh! also the new skylightz and ventz for the roof area.
As u can see from the Foto ,The new roof has received a few face liftz this week - the rear door has had an arched entry added to itz top, plus the curved edges
have been glued into place down the sidez,The front
corners have been curved and the whole roof is just about ready for itz final layers of fibreglass.
Huge amountz of work goes into each stage of the refit, as each piece is fitted ,removed, glued and sealed then refitted before sanding then fibreglassing into place. All that happens b4 you even think about painting or cosmetic improvements. And(not gramaticaly correct,Sorry Mum!)all this just so a guy can take his house fishing when he want's!
The rains held off, thank christ! and by nitefall I'd managed to finish making the template for the front window. A sheet of 6 mm fibreboard was the victim! as we made the window and fitted it, only itz not expensive clear sheet, but a useless piece of crap wood, that has now proved that we can cut a simple straight piece of polycarb 575 x 2440mm and it'll fill
the opening perfectly! Despite an 11 degree curvature of the roof, Kenny and I will now use the poor defenseless piece of crap as a template to cut the really nice piece of 6mm polycarbonate plastic that will be my front window from now on.
Also this week I've been constructing eight purpose(small dolfinz) built bracketz to secure the new roof to the verticle supportz. While I could of simply sent the design out to the stainless fabricators and had a laser cutter make them(as was suggested approx $300) I decided to have a go at it! The end result "while not perfect" will ensure that my new roof stays firmly attached, regardless of the conditions Mother Nature sendz my way.I'd has a guess that the new roof is as strong, if not stronger than the old, which is really saying something as the "bloody German" that
built Galley Cat nee Paseo really knew his stuff! Itz still amazing nearly 1 year into this project just how amazingly strong this YOT is. I find myself looking regularly at the old foto's of this build(random screen savers) and still struggle to believe the changes. Can't wait until I get to set sail for distant shores and even bigger fishes and adventures!Though I find it hard 2 believe I could find a better part of the world to spend winter, today was 26 degree's and despite the early cloud still warm enuf to work without T shirtz. Sorry to all those in colder clime's.
Today's lunch was a simple fare with Mum's Lemon chicken and Riz pilaf(rice cooked with chicken stock) both tasted gr8 and waz enjoyed by all.. Last nite I felt like mudcrab, so I took a couple of netz round the corner into the creek, got 5 crabz but only 1 male and he waz huge! so a quick boil up and he was dinner. He was big enuf that I couldn't finish him in one sitting, not bad considering I didn't even leave the water or hit the ocean to gather dinner.
The garden has gone through a small transformation this week, with much smaller plastic boxes being purchased for the new bedz, these will be able to move into the growroom and plug into the hydroponic system while the boat is underway.Once I'm anchored safely I'll unplug them and place them outside on purpose(more small dolfinz) built racks/stands.Just something else I have 2 build b4 setting sail. But I really feel that we've really broken the back of the rebuild and I'll shortly move into the more cosmetic phase of the project. Can't wait!
That'z all 4 now, so enjoy yur Friday! B good or b careful!

"FELIXER"

G'day All, Major achievement day! I've got a fitted roof. It's glued, screwed and glassed. Well the first layer of glass anyway.
But that's not the reason for the update, Mum left Saturday morning taking with her the first export bottle of "FELIXER" the brewery/distillery is now so named! Over the weekend just gone I managed another distill plus watched many hours of V8's. Lowndesy winning both races and the round. If he'd just switch back to Ford I'd be able to come out of the closet and support him openly. Now it's on to Phillip Island then BATHURST. Yippee!!!!
Back 2 the roof the weather has definitely turned with Tuesday arvo seeing our first thunderstorm of the season this forced my hand and as such every other job has been dropped in favour of installing the roof and making the YOT watertite again. I had no intention of having it fitted by today but a big push by Kenny,Matt and Myself saw the roof glued into place by 3pm. If the rains hold of tonight I'll spend tomorrow sanding and grinding in preparation(wkoa) for painting the window frames and support panels B4 we fitt the windscreen and side windows. Its been decided that the rear
facing support panels will have 2 "cats eye" shaped windows installed, plus an arch shaped top to the entry if itz humanly possible! But 4 now I'll settle for watertite. The YOT is to be my home for the next phase of my life so I'm going to make damn sure itz a pleasure to live in.After all itz all about the journey not the destination! This fact is showing itself more and more ,as each day see's me tackling jobs I would never of contemplated just a couple of years ago.Now I just have to vacumn lotz of fibreglass dust out of the cabin area so I'll bid you all farewell and will be in touch soon.
