CONSTRUCTION ZONE

new rear deck with access hatches

Thyme for a paddle
Hectic is the only way to describe it.
Endeavour
Work is back in full swing, with so many jobs on the go at once itz hard to know which takes first priority each day.The rear deck received the last of 55 bolts today,The rear wall of the kitchen now has a gaping hole through it-this is where the fish tubs will be stored. The door will be a top opening style like the old garage tilt panels that way it won't affect the fishing deck when itz opened. The deckwash pump has arrived and will be fitted today with pipe work being installed under the YOT to give me pressurized salt water on the fore deck, rear deck and also up into the sinks.
The new hatch over the port sponson has been made and only needs itz seals and fibreglassing to make it watertite.LED lighting has been ordered that will be installed below the waterline in both rear sponsons to illuminate the water around the rear deck for fishing, squiding and night time loading. All the material for the new fibreglass roof over the back deck has been ordered. With only the stainless steel safety rails and supports still to be organised.Generally a very busy week.
On the fishing front while all this work is going on I've managed to catch 1 barramundi,no crabs but everyone around me is heading out to Cape Clevland and catching their limit on spanish mackeral (itz simply a matter of priorities)
I still manage a little downtime, with the endeavour replica parked behind me in the harbour I took the opportunity  for a close up look (they wouldn't throw down a rope so I could tow it with the kyack) Itz not like I would of been able to move it!
On the culinary front after Tuesday's impromptu spanish pasta creation, I've made a fantastic cauliflower soup(cauli's have finally dropped from $8 each to a more respectable $4) , a steak sandwich with deep fried onion rings, crumbed barra with homemade lime aioli (garlic mayonnaise), a beautiful chicken satay with steamed jasmine rice. Really general sustenance food to keep me working throughout the day and occasionally night time as well. So much construction is going on, that once the current round of jobs has been completed I'll be able to head out to sea on a more regular basis. The Yamaha motors are now running properly with Yamaha finally fitting a new carby to the starboard (right) motor on friday morning also a different filter system has been added to the fuel lines as the one fitted by them was found to be inadequate.Itz taken month's to get them to agree to this work so fingers crossed that's the last of the motor drama's. I'm making enquiries looking for an electric anchor winch and a couple of self tailing sail winches so hopefully those feelers will yield a result in the next few weeks.
A special hello goes out to Mermaid with the SOUTHERN CROSS being the constellation that answered your request.(sorry no galaxy's). Good luck!
Itz nearly dawn here so time for a few ZZZZ's before I get back into it.
Keep the contacts flowing.

Tuesday 7 June 2011

It'z a tuesday kind of Friday!!!

What a day!!! Finally we have MAJOR progress on the Yamaha motors, with the dealer finally agreeing that the motor on the Starboard (right) side needs a new carburetter. After 2 months of 2ing and fro-ing, a new carby will B fitted on Thursday and fingers crossed I'll b able to take the YOT for a spin 2 Cape Clevland this weekend.(big Mackeral)Tonight's dinner is turning out to be a culmination of the entire purpose("small dolphin") of this journey. I'm currently roasting cherry tomatoes, capsicum and sliced chorizo sausage, once they R  roasted, the tomato and capsicum is going 2B roughly chopped and sautee'd(lightly fried) with spring onion, garlic and philadelphia cooking cream. Then I'll add the chorizo and a cup of cooked penne pasta which will all b tossed together with shaved parmasean cheese and fresh basil sprigs.90% of this meal was grown on the rear deck!!! Not a bad meal 4 a Tuesday night. Sorry Friday.
Another major factor that has not been made mention of is the "music factor"(thanx Carl) I'm currently listening 2 a Rolf Harris track (2 little boys) and I feel  must mention the huge differnce having music' plays on my everyday life, 2day has seen a huge leap forward in my end goal and the real progress has come from the realization that good people, good food and good music far outweighs material gains! Rolf Harris has now been replaced by Nirvana thus the true beauty of shuffle mode on a music program on a working computer.NO ADVERTS and truely random music.
Life is defin8ly taking a turn for the betta, with my my daily workload dictated purely by my own desire to move forward."you should smell the roasting smells drifting through the cabin right now"."Micheal Jacksons Thriller is playing  and the YOT is just about 2 refloat so I can pull her back 2 the shore after last nightz adventure.Back soon  I'm Floating!
