POWER PARANOIA!!!

 G'day All!
Itz Fryday again and lifes' Gr8!
Lunch 2day- Spinach frittata, Thai beef and glass noodle salad and creamy mustard potato salad!
What did you have???
The title pretty much explains this weeks activities, itz bean all about power!
The yot is not currently connected to shore power and this is making life very interesting.
Rather than wait until my next trip out, I've been running the Yot as if I'm away from land. ie No Shore Power! This has been the major sticking point for journey length during my previous tripz. With the fitting of my new digital amp meter under the distribution panel I can now tell exactly how much power I'm using. "Itz scary!!"
I can get the night thyme useage down to around 4-5 amps but!!! it comes at a price!
This week has seen electrical mayhem aboard, Modem, stereo and mobile phone all dying!!
The modem and mobile R already bak on-line.
The stereo still worx but has lost the right side speakers.
And as this foto showz "there's a Really big hole in the floor"
Not really but the idea is there! The old carpet has had a burn hole put through it directly over the escape hatch in the main floor. Different.
Brother Andrew rang 2 day to let  me know (brag) that he's off marlin fishing tomorrow. Lucky bastard, I'll settle 4 a barramundi or 2 as the water and weather are getting warmer.
The baitfish (mullet) have arrived signalling the change from Winter 2 Summer.
Itz definately thyme to look South!
With the warmer weather will come the Humidity and the rain, and I'd much rather B far South of here when it arrives.
The preparations for the next trip are well under way with the Yot about 2B turned around ready to finish the side safety  rails and bow roller. This is in preparation (wkoa) for the new boarding ladder and trampolines to be fitted at the front of the Yot. Along with improving safety it'll make anchoring the Yot lotz easier.
The blackboard on the rear deck is working well as both a message and a menu board.
The console is nearly complete and I've begun to clean the mess and ready the Yot for sea. There is still heapz 2 do but if I don't get going soon I'll miss the wind change.
There's a short period each year that the prevailing wind turns southward and I'm hoping to catch that change and head towards a cooler summer climate. Perhaps Fraser Island or Coff's harbour area Who Knows?
I've got the trip to Sydney and Bathurst to look forward to in early October, then its back here. I'll ready the Yot as best I can B4 Bathurst but there will still be a few things needing attention. I'll deal with them in order of priority.
I headed out to Bunnings this week to measure a Bean bag they had in the outdoor furniture area and there was 1 left. It had been discounted and they weren't getting any more so that bean bag is now on the bow (front) of the Yot. It'll also fit on top of the fridge area inside during rough weather.
Miss mermaid is heading towards Australia in 4 or 5 weeks and is feeling a little anxious about the flight.
I've reassured her that there's a fantastic summer ahead waiting in this land Down under.Lotz of Sun, beaches, Fishing and Sailing well thatz the plan anyway.
Amanda has had a rough year or two, so some quality rest and relaxation (wkoa) is well deserved.
Here's hoping the events of the coming month or 2 will have everyone smiling.
Big Ash has been in contact and is sending a few Artificial turf off cuts for the rear deck, while Mum and Dad have returned from a whirlwind trip to Thailand.
The safety gear onboard is in need of a major overhaul with the flares expiring and the V sheet being unusable. Itz lucky I checked the safety bag this week B4 I headed out on the next trip 2 the reef as I could of ended up with a hefty fine or worse. So I'm planning to renew the basics with some new gear and a few extra's such as an air horn and a personal locator beacon. These are just a few items that have been identified as  a "good idea" to keep in the safety grab bag.
The coming week is all about getting everything ship shape and secure. I'm hoping to organise all my fishing gear and build a few improvements to the fishing bench such as a leader dispenser and filleting board.
Thatz it for this week.
Keep Smiling and remember -live every day to the Maxx!
