NEW YEAR PROGRESS

End of 2017
G'day All, Itz a whole new year and both Mum and Dad have arrived for a few weex of R&R!
We headed towards the top of Groote Eylandt and spent a few days trolling in the shallows for coral trout plus gathering the ever present oysters for kilpatricks.
The day thyme heat is solid when the air conditioning still doesn't work but we managed to stay kool enuf by visiting cave paintings and exploring in Chris's tinny.
Itz hard to pass up fresh rock oysters So when we are here we gather a feed every thyme.
The kilpatricks are never enuf unless your the one who haz 2 shuck them.
We managed a few coral trout for dinner with a fresh lemon breadcrumb coating served with Mums potato salad and coleslaw.
Terrible food as usual.
While Andrew and Chris were both on working weex, we snuck up to Chasm Island for our first trip North with another planned for next week when the otherz aren't working.
Dad had a short tussle with a 4 ft long Barracuda that destroyed the cod he was reeling in.
We had heaps of fish ready to send bak 2 Perth so this was purely passing the thyme.
Still itz a gr8 way to spend a day.
We are improving the yot every day with the mast steps now fitted plus a new "mast cam" security camera ordered to give me the forward vision I need to navigate my way  through the shallow reef systemz.
Blackout showed up for an intensive fishing session that resulted in plenty of reds and a huge cobia.
However the sharks took there toll and we ran out of sinkers, this meant we had to make a few more back at Blackoutz place.
He has the best lead pouring bench system I've eva scene.
105 sinkers in just over 1 hour Orsum!
I doubt Chris will ever order sinkers via ebay again.
Mum & Dad were house sitting for one of the school teachers up here which gave access to a week of air conditioning I was able to leave the Yot around 8.30 am and return after 6 pm missing the hottest parts of the day.
Our return trip to town was interrupted by a couple of good sized Spanish Mackerels that filled our ice box with sum quality filletz.
It loox like I need to take the yot 2 Darwin to get the generator fixed then return to Groote to await Chris and Tara who are scheduled to leave the eylandt soon.
However it is the middle of cyclone season up here so I need to be extra sure of having a safe place to anchor the boat  should a cyclone form during the 3-4  day trip. The water temperature here is already 34 degrees c. Which is just what a low pressure cell needs to turn into a monster storm.
Blackout has already volunteered to be my deckie for the trip then he'd fly back to Groote while I get the generator fixed.
With any luck I'll get on top of the generator problem B4 heading back to the Eylandt.
Thatz it for now but we have a week of exploring, fishing, sailing and gathering seafood such as fresh fish filletz, the odd crayfish don't forget the oysters also.
Ciao 4 now
