WATERWORLD !!!!

G'day all from rain soaked FNQ,
Any more rain and this place will soon resemble Kevin Costners' Waterworld.
In any given 24 hour period we get about 1-2 hours of dry ! This of course slows work to an almost backward pace. The yard has ground 2 a halt, and the work on Galleycat is not far behind.  I'm still managing to keep the jobs underway in between downpours, during which I'm in a monitoring state.Constantly stopping water intrusions into the main cabin area. With no roof on the rear deck and lotz of 8mm holes drilled down either side of the hulls.

As the photo shows "the pergola" is still in the final painting stage as we can't get a dry day to sand the primer coat that was sprayed last Wednesday.
Do you like Kenny's Ballet/spray painting shoe's?     Is there anything you can't make with gaffer tape?
Wednesday was the only day this week that was half way dry so we spent the whole day respraying a 34ft yacht and also putting a primer undercoat on the Pergola.
The shear quantity of rain has meant that most yard workers haven't even bothered coming to work, for those of us that live here itz meant a re-focus on the work effort. I'm using any periods of lite or no rainfall to work on the safety rails and starting to set up the kitchen area for a minor makeover, to see if the idea's I've got for the inside galley/kitchen will work.
Unfortunately the safety rails are at the stage of mounting the brackets so there are lotz of 8mm holes drilled from the outside. These are allowing heaps of water in so I'm simply emptying containers as they fill.Once the roof goes back on and the brackets are fitted properly the Yot will be once again dry inside! But for now It's a very wet "Cat",I read somewhere that Cat's don't like water!
I mentioned during the last blog that I was removing the 2 side windows on the starboard (right) side of the Yot. Unfortunately I had removed 1 of these

The break from outside work has worked well with my new ethos of having several jobs on the go, both inside and outside. I have started on the redesign of the kitchen/galley area in the port hull with the removal of one of the exsisting shelves over the bench. This will allow for the fitting of 4 drawers below the new benchtop. One of these drawers will be a purpose built spice drawer.Aftrer talking to Adrian from Galvins, I'm  now researching some of the practicle drawer inserts available from Hettich. I would love to have some of the space age drawer slides available however they won't handle the salt water enviroment very well.
The wet weather has also allowed for some gr8 meals with a totally impromptu apple pie probably the highlight, several salads and a lovely schnitzel also features high on the list
Fridays lunch was a slow cooked chicken curry with garlic basmati rice, however only 3 of us at the table.
Lots of calls from the West this week with the fishing out from 2 rocks being the main topic of conversation. Mr Mick's 18kg Dhufish seems to be the highlight, however Kevin from WCAC is giving Ian a ribbing about his impressive catch ratio.I believe itz currently 6/0,Is this right Ian?
Aside from that there's not much to report for this week so I will just sit back and watch the Grand Prix in Melbourne! Lets hope for a better result for Webber this year.

Ciao from the very WET Galleycat.
