NEW YEAR DIRECTIONZ !!!

 G'day All,
Itz a new year and with the change comes a new direction for Galleycat.
Itz been a while since the last update!, a series of electrical failurez left the yot without a charging source for the puta!
2 new inverterz are on the way as well as a car charger  this will give me triple redundancy on the charging circuit.
Mum, Dad and Hayley have come aboard for a visit and R now back in Perth.Taking a good supply of fresh fish filletz with them.
They all had a good thyme swimming, diving, eating, fishing and catching oysterz.
The menu waz a seafood bonanza as well as our now eva popular double crust pizzaz.
Hayley caught her first ever fish and managed to "ruff it" sleeping under the stars on the beanbagz.
Mum was in far better spirits than I expected with only an underlying hint of the drama within.
The heat is still a major factor with 38 to 40 an average daythyme temp.
Although reasonably regular thunderstormz cool the area in the aftanoonz.
Galleycat haz left Groote once again for a week of fishing and solitude on Wedge Rock in the Gulf. This will be follow by a proposed journey to the Roper River on the mainland for the Australia Day weekend.
Barra and Mudcrabz are the goal!
The postal services on the Island have finally started again with large quantities of ebay items finally arriving! New bilge pumps, fishing tackle and a knife sharpenerz all arriving. Mum also brought a "care package" with her giving me new crockery and cutlery for the kitchen plus towelz and quilt covers for the linen cupboard. The yot iz almost fully funkional again!
My new direction iz in fact a reversal with planz being maid 2 leave Groote and head once again toward Thursday Islands and Cape York plus the Northern end of the Gr8 Barrier..
This area haz SO many fantastic places that I passed by on my journey here that they warrant a return visit. I will of course have to wait for the end of Cyclone season but the planz are slowly beginning 2 form.+-
The fishing has defin8ly proved worthwhile with good quantities of bottom fish available.
I'm parked on a lump 17nm North of Town and if I was keeping fish the Icebox would of been filled at least twice already.
I've had to take a break as every drop resultz in Trout, Jews or Nannygai plus some monster queenies and huge catfish that stretch your arms and drag washers.
I think I'm in 4 a busy nite!
-----------------------------------------
My busy nite was also a Ruff nite!
Massive wind against tide resulted in 2 anchor shifts and a broken rudder "AGAIN".
Itz thyme to "reinvent the wheel".
A new approach is needed as the current system is more prone to failure than is safe! The massive forces involved need 2B controlled somehow?
The fishing was also off the charts!
24 mulloway, 2 trout, 6 gold banded snapper, 4 Nannygai, 11 trevally and a couple of sharx!
All B4 10.30pm!
I kept a couple of Trout and a couple of Goldies for freezer stock but the rest live to fight another dai.
With the rudder failure I've decided to head back a day early in an attempt to fix it B4 the weekendz trip.
Rudders strengthened & repaired, the yot refuelled and supplied at were off again for the Australia Day Weekend.

Ciao 4 now
Captain felix

Glad to see the running repairs have not caused too much delay to your plans. I also hope you have located a safe anchorage with good reception for the first weekend in March?? As is my way in life I have managed to secure an invite into the Penske Suite complete with Pit tour and Grid walk. This job is hard but someone has to do it. Our good friends have also been kind enuf to provide accommodation (WKOA) for the 4 nights in Adelaide in a very nice hotel. So looks like the whole trip will cost about $325 as I managed to jag some virgin flights at $160 each way. Now lets just hope the TAB and sportsbet can maintain the good fortune and cover the alcohol and food bill for the weekend. If history is anything to go by we should return home with the trip covered and money in our pockets. But regardless of how that turns out it should be an awesome weekend again. Stadium Trucks for shits and Giggles plus some fantastic street racing. Gotta Love CLIPSAL. Anyway I just thought I would say Hi and let you know that despite my Office bound lifestyle I still get to enjoy some of the greater sporting moments. If you are anywhere along the East coast around Bathurst weekend we might have to catch up for another trip out to the islands and reefs. I am sure Emily would love to head out again.

    Cheers for now
    Brother Mark
