FROM THIS 2 THIS!!! SLOW PROGRESS!

FROM THIS
Itz bean a while since the last update, but I've finally got some visible progress. My focus each day has been heavily on a big dive charter boat on the slip, but I've still kept up with the task of preparing the YOT 4 Brother Marks' arrival in 3 weeks.
Most of the progress is "cosmetic" based. With the dreaded job of painting rearing itz ugly head again! I HATE PAINTING!
The rear quarters of the Yot have gained some cosmetic touches with the fibreglassing and painting of the foam blocks that cover the joins of the old hull to the new rear deck.
There is still final fairing (shaping) of the blocks 2B done but this won't happen until the new outside paint job is underway.Sum thyme in the distant future.
Itz been a big couple of weeks in the food department with a B.B.Q lunch on Friday with  5 different salads and some lovely fillet steak, pork sausages and creole style rissoles.
I've also made a tasty potato and leek soup, along with several banana cakes and puddings (oversupply of bananas in the yard).
Lotz of mudcrabs have kept me in a steady supply of crab meat for crab and mayo sandwiches and singapore chilli crab.
TOO THIS
The interior of the Yot is beginning to take shape as I use the night thymes to achieve these upgrades. The lining material arrived from Cairns last week (thanks Mum) and Ken and Myself set about transforming a small section of the inner frameworx into a sample area of the completed interior. This has allowed for final paint colour selection and the dreaded task of painting the inside of the Yot began. Did I mention I h8 Painting! The  hood lining was not exactly the colour I waz looking for but I think its worked out well with the new colour scheme being a mushroom tone with a greyish tinge hard to describe but it looks really good with new paint work tying in with the material lining and the existing woodwork.
The kitchen has now received its final coat of paint (Thank goodness) and the stainless laminex has arrived(thanx Dad) so I can finish the bench tops and splashbacks in the coming weeks. Along with the Laminex order was the new lining board for the bathroom so if I get thyme before Mark gets here I'll begin the renovation of the bathroom as well. This will complete the starboard hull's fittout which is technically 1/3 of the interior complete.
FROM THIS
But B4 I can get into the bench tops and bathroom, there's paint, paint and more paint. Ken
TOO THIS
did me a huge favour by spraying the forward cabin so I didn't have to spend days undercoating then topcoating in this very confined area. (Thanx heapz Ken.) Now itz up to me to paint another wall or ceiling each night in an effort 2 have the Yot ready for the V8 weekend in just 3 short weeks.I'm still waitng for the generator to come back from service/replacement this will allow the Yot to once again head into open waters which I'm hoping to do somethyme over the coming fortnite. As a reward for painting I'm going to head just past Cape Clevland were Carlo's tangling with some big spanish mackerel at the moment. Brother Andrew has just returned from a very successful trip to Exmouth were he landed all sortz of big fish with text's coming in regularly telling me of the size and variety he was catching. The trip started rather unpleasently however with Andrew's boat hitting a whale shark on the first day damaging the echo sounder and bruising all those onboard, probably not doing the whale shark any good either!
Gr8 news from Ireland with Amanda Mermaid getting the all clear to travel, so hopefully she'll be in our great country sooner rather than later.
Itz all coming together and with the cosmetic upgrades the Yot is slowly becoming habitable and functionally able to receive guests in relative comfort.
That's about all for this update, keep smiling and if anyone feels like doing some painting I'm sure I can find a spare brush around here. Cause I really don't like painting!

  1. Greetings CF
Great to hear the positive news about Mermaid - I wonder if she can paint???!!!! I'd offer to come and do some, but you'd have twice the trouble to deal with - stripping off the paint job I did, then repainting it so it looked halfway decent. I don't hate painting, I'm just LOUSY at it. I believe Mark is quite a dab hand though, so maybe he can wield a brush for a couple of hours while he's visiting - between trips to the Whitsundays, the Reef and the V 8's !!!! What a great mate Kenny has been- helping you with so much of the work on the Cat. She's really looking very different now from the last time I saw her. I didn't realise you'd taken the bench seats out from around the mast - will make access to the sleeping area much easier - are you planning to replace the side one's so you've got somewhere inside to sit?
Glad the BBQ went off well - I hope the visitors were suitably impressed!!!
We're having some dreadful weather at the moment - several houses in Dianella lost their rooves, and the Video library at Morley/Galleria was almost totally destroyed in cyclonic type winds. Nell lost several trees at York as well, but had no other damage. Dad's gone to fire brigade this morning, so I get to do REPORTS --YEAH !!!!!! Can't use my computer at the moment - it's finally died, and new one arriving late next week, so I have to work on Dad's - when he's not playing games on it!!!!.
Hope Mermaid doesn't decide to visit at the same time as Mark - things could be a tad squashy, particularly if the weather was a bit unkind. I've drawn the short straw - get to take Mark to the airport IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, for his trip to Townsville. Easier than trying to organise 3 kids if Kym takes him. As punishment, I should make him bring you a whole Scotch fillet AND a 10Kg bag of donut batter !!!!!
Anyway, better get on with the reports, before Dad wants his computer back.
Take care, and say hello to all the guys in the yard, especially Kenny.
    Mum xo
